The squash industry is limbering up for an international image overhaul
with the appointment of sports PR specialist Howard Harding.
Harding is to become the first world squash media director for the
sport’s three leading international organisations - the World Squash
Federation (WSF), the Professional Squash Association (PSA) and the
Women’s International Squash Player’s Association (WISPA).
‘In the increasingly competitive international media environment for
sport, we recognise the need to both co-ordinate and upgrade our media
relations activities,’ said WSF executive director Ted Wallbutton.
Harding, a keen squash player, will continue to run his two man sports
PR agency Howard Harding Associates.
He established the firm in 1988 and also works for Dunlop, the Squash
Rackets Association and the Sports Writers’ Association of Great
Britain.
‘I am delighted to be able to extend my enthusiasm for squash overseas,’
he said.
Squash is played by more than 15 million people in 130 countries, 110 of
which are members of the WSF.
