Allied Domecq Spirits and Wine is on the lookout for a new head of
corporate communications.
The company, a division of the spirits-to-pubs Allied Domecq group, is
seeking a replacement for Henry Pomeroy, who retires in 1997.
Pomeroy, who is based in Bristol, is responsible for a team of five
covering media relations, sponsorship and ‘alcohol issues’.
He also oversees internal communications with the company’s 3,467
employees, reporting to Allied Domecq plc head of corporate affairs Tony
Pratt.
Pomeroy joined Allied Domecq in 1986 when it acquired The Hiram Walker
Group, the Canadian drinks business where he was working as worldwide
director of corporate communications.
‘I’ve reached my sell by date,’ said Pomeroy on his years with the
company.
Allied Domecq Spirits and Wine brands include Teachers Highland Cream,
Laphroaig and Single Malt Scotch Whisky.
It also owns several subsidiary firms such as Allied Distillers,
Courvoisier SA and Harveys of Bristol.
