Glasgow-based agency Media House has decided not to re-pitch for

the PR account for Mirror Group newspapers the Scottish Daily Record and

Sunday Mail.

The account is open for tender following the decision to review the PR

account for the two newspapers.

Three Scotland-based PR firms, including Shandwick Scotland, are

pitching to replace Media House when its contract expires in three

months time.

However, Glasgow-based Media House refused to take part in protest at

being asked to re-pitch after four years.

The Mirror Group is currently the subject of takeover and merger bids

from the Regional Independent Media Group and rival newspaper group

Trinity.

Jack Irvine, executive chairman of Media House, commented: ’You might

think that it’s a very strange time to be reviewing PR

arrangements.’

Daily Record managing director Mark Hollinshead said: ’We have taken a

new overview of our communications strategy and decided that we need a

more integrated approach. We are reviewing our requirements for PR,

advertising agencies and event management. Media House would have been

welcome to pitch.’
