Former Debenhams corporate communications director Alex Mackey has
joined financial PR agency GCI Focus as director of its financial PR and
investor relations business.
GCI Focus, which is strong in financial services and property PR, is
keen to build its mainstream financial PR client list. Mackey will take
responsibility for building this area of the business.
His first task is managing Regional Independent Media Group’s takeover
bid for the Mirror Group, backed by long-standing GCI client Candover, a
management buyout fund.
He replaces Christopher Joll, who becomes deputy chairman, reporting,
like Mackey, to chief executive and chairman Rupert Ashe. In his new
role Mackey will be responsible not only for building UK business but
for attracting international clients.
GCI owns offices in New York and Frankfurt with specialist financial
capabilities.
’One of the reasons I am excited about going to GCI is that they have an
international network of wholly owned offices, which refer business all
the time’ said Mackey.
