Public Affairs: TLG moves closer to Tories with CCHQ hire

TLG has raided Conservative Campaign Headquarters (CCHQ) for a new consultant as the agency continues to bolster its Tory credentials.

Malcolm Gooderham's outfit has signed up Lisa Thomas, media adviser to the Tories' environment and climate change team.

Thomas, who starts with TLG next month, has provided media support to the party's environment team for the past three years. The team is currently led by shadow environment and climate change secretary Greg Clark.

The hiring comes a week after TLG appointed former Tory aide Jonathan French. French was most recently assistant director of media relations at the Association of British Insurers. French's roles at Tory HQ included handling press for then party chairman Michael Ancram.

Both Thomas and French join the agency as senior consultants. Thomas will join TLG's corporate PR team and advise clients including Flybe and Kingfisher. French will work across PR and public affairs clients and will develop the consultancy's b2b offering.

Gooderham claimed: 'Lisa's network and knowledge of the green media is just what progressive businesses are looking for. Jon's insights and experience in corporate media and politics are a good combination for any company wanting an integrated solution to a reputation challenge.'

He added: '2010 has started well for us and we have further exciting announcements to follow.'
