Courtney Love has hired Stoked PR to position her as an 'iconic artist' not 'notorious celebrity' before her music comeback

The agency has been hired to handle her PR across UK and Europe. It will attempt to raise awareness of her upcoming Hole record, due out in April. She plans to play the band’s first gig in almost 11 years in London on 17 February. 
 
Love hit headlines in December when she lost custody of her 17-year old daughter. 

Stoked PR founder Kate Head said she wanted to ‘shift the emphasis from Love as a notorious celebrity to Love as an iconic artist.’

‘Courtney Love is to rock what Madonna is to pop – she is about music and has gone back to doing what she does best’, she added.

The first major statement of the campaign is this month’s cover of Dazed & Confused which names Love as ‘the first lady of rock’.

Head set up Stoked PR in 2008. She previously spent seven years as head of press at Sony. Her current clients include Alicia Keys, Anastacia, Tinchy Stryder, Kirsty Gallacher and consumer brands PlayStation and Evian.
