HAMBURG: US communication group BSMG Worldwide has bought its
second European PR company - top ten German agency APR/Wilkens - as part
of its ongoing European expansion plans.
The agency was previously part of advertising network FCB, which itself
belongs to BSMG parent group, True North. APR/Wilkens will now be known
as APR/Wilkens BSMG and its chief executive and founder Wolfgang Raike
will continue in his position.
Tim Sutton, chief executive of Charles Barker BSMG which is was bought
by BSMG Worldwide over a year ago, said: ’This gives us a major presence
in what remains the largest continental market and a foothold in the top
ten right from the start.’
He added that APR/ Wilkens would be opening an office in Frankfurt
shortly and that BSMG is seeking further acquisition opportunities in
Germany, Switzerland, Austria and France.
APR/Wilkens was founded in 1990 and is based in Hamburg. It employs 27
staff and has a second office in Stuttgart. Last year, the agency
recorded a fee income of pounds 1,822,000. Its clients include German
sugar industry body CMA Zucker.
