Regester Larkin has won a three-way pitch to handle PR for the
Community Pharmacy Action Group, as it continues its campaign to prevent
the threatened abolition of resale price maintenance, a policy that
guarantees a minimum price for over-the-counter medicine.
Incumbent agency Lawson Lucas Mendelsohn, and EMC Euro PR also pitched
for the account.
Regester Larkin will work on building media and political contacts and
developing a media relations programme for the group, which represents
12,000 local pharmacies. The group claims many of the pharmacies will be
forced to close if resale price maintenance is abolished.
The Restrictive Practices Court has been asked by the Director General
of the Office of Fair Trading to review resale price maintenance, which
he claims is anti-competitive.
LLM handled initial lobbying for the Community Pharmacy Action Group
before and during the Office of Fair Trading’s decision.
