Porter Novelli hires recruiter Sally Ward to fill top UK role

The recruiter in charge of finding a replacement for Jean Wyllie's top job at Porter Novelli has landed the role herself.

Newly appointed: Sally Ward

Former Weber Shandwick European vice chairman Sally Ward has been hired by PN to replace outgoing UK MD Wyllie, who is leaving without a job to go to.

Ward joins the agency next week from her role as founder and director of recruitment firm Plum Consulting.

Plum had been hired to co-ordinate the search for Wyllie's replacement, but the agency ended up offering Ward the job.

PN CEO Gary Stockman said: ‘Fairly far along in the search we asked Sally if she would like the job. We had been seeing some impressive candidates, but Sally impressed us hugely. We turned the tables and recruited the recruiter.'

Ward previously worked at PN in London for seven years as a portfolio director and later as the agency's UK development director.

Before launching Plum four years ago, Ward also spent five years in various roles at Weber Shandwick in the UK before leaving in 2006.

In addition to her roles as UK MD and partner, Ward will join PN's executive committee.
