Barum Continental, the Czech tyre manufacturer, has called on GCI
Praha to get to grips with its public relations needs in eastern
The agency will run a consumer and business-to-business publicity drive
across eight countries: Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Slovenia,
Croatia, Yugoslavia, Rumania and Bulgaria.
Starting in March, work will concentrate on developing relationships
with the motor press in each country and positioning Barum Continental
as a quality tyre provider for cars, trucks, bicycles and agricultural
vehicles. The account will be co-ordinated and managed by Katerina
Koudelova, GCI’s executive director in Prague.
A joint venture with German tyre giant Continental, Barum has emerged as
one of the Czech Republic’s most successful companies. Sales jumped from
pounds 2.9 million to pounds 4.7 million last year and are likely to
increase as newly affluent Czechs and other east Europeans spend more on
cars and motor equipment.
