Fund management house Fidelity Investments is searching for a
Luxembourg-based director of communications to support its expansion
into the European mutual funds market.
Reporting to Paul Kafka, Fidelity’s UK-based executive director for
corporate communications, the new director will lead a team of three
staff with responsibility for PR in Germany, France, Switzerland,
Austria and Scandinavia.
Kafka explained that the post holder would partly replace former
associate director Elena Mendoza, who quit last year to work as a
freelance consultant.
Her role has been expanded to include liaison work with country
marketing managers and day to day relations with the financial media. An
appointment is expected later this spring.
Fidelity has made a concerted effort to wean cautious European investors
off traditional savings vehicles such as bank accounts and bonds.
Germany in particular - with its ageing population and expected changes
in legislation for private pension provision - is seen as a promising
market for unit trusts.
