Nigel Pollard, Westminster Council’s head of communications, is
leaving to join brewing company Courage as external relations
Pollard, who has been in his current post for two years, takes up the
newly-created Courage job in April. At Courage, part of brewing and pubs
giant Scottish and Newcastle, his role will include developing an
external relations strategy, media relations, local government affairs,
special events and sponsorship.
At Westminster Council, Pollard heads a five-strong in-house team. He
also manages the council’s relationship with John Kendall Associates,
which provides Westminster’s seven-strong press office team.
Pollard, who is assisting in the search for his replacement, says the
council is ’looking for a seasoned PR professional, not necessarily a
local government person’. He said there were no plans to review John
Kendall Associates’ role.
Pollard’s successor will report to Peter Thomas, Westminster’s director
of policy and regeneration, not Graham England, who as director of
external relations formerly oversaw communications.

wilful misconduct by district auditor John Magill, in the Westminster
