Computer giant NCR has appointed Virginia Cartwright, an account

director at hi-tech agency Text 100, to the top PR job as it prepares

for a virtual relaunch of the brand in the UK and Ireland.

NCR, formerly owned by AT&T, became an independent company in January

specialising in computer solutions for the retail, financial and

telecomms industries.

As new director for communications and media relations, Cartwright’s

first task will be a communications audit covering media relations,

sponsorship and events, internal communications, advertising and

multimedia services.

She says the ensuing campaign will backed by a minimum of pounds

200,000.

’The role of communications, both internally and externally will be of

crucial importance as NCR enters a new phase in its development,’ said

Malcolm Roberts, NCR chairman and managing director.

Cartwright, 29, will report directly to Roberts and head a team of

ten.

She will be responsible for all NCR’s internal and external

communications in the UK and Ireland. Cartwright replaces Stephen

Swinbank who moves to a new role positioning NCR in the electronic

commerce market.

NCR’s roster of agencies includes: Vockrodt Projects for media relations

in the UK and Ireland; Paragon Communications for the production of its

Profit Plus newsletter; and Directions for an internal newsletter. NCR

also sponsors a non-fiction book award, which is handled through Colman

Getty.
