Opinion: From our Readers - EDF is a top climate change performer

Contrary to your article 'EDF seeks consumer shop' (News, 11 December 2009), EDF Energy was one of the top national press performers in the energy industry in 2009.

With wide support inside and outside the business, Green Britain Day is one example of the long-term commitment EDF Energy has made to promote sustainability among the public. Hundreds of thousands of people are already engaged by Team Green Britain to lead low-carbon lifestyles.

EDF Energy has led the industry in this area and we are the largest producer of low-carbon electricity in the UK. Back in 2007, we published Our Climate Commitments and the scale of these environmental commitments has still not been matched by any other energy company. So, our sustainability claims are really backed up by action.

Our customers tell us they want competitive prices, excellent service and first-class choice and EDF Energy is delivering on all three counts. This is why our customer satisfaction ratings are among the highest, if not the highest, in the energy industry.

While I'm disappointed by the comments made in this article, what's important is that we all work together to tackle the bigger issue of climate change.
