Cubitt names new director, Polish government in agency hire.

Chris Lane has joined Cubitt Consulting as a director within its growth companies division. Lane will replace Brian Coleman-Smith, who is retiring at the end of March. Lane joins from Abchurch Communications. Coleman-Smith previously worked at Burson-Marsteller and Beattie Financial.

Smithfield and Solski Burson-Marsteller have been retained for a year to advise the Polish government on its privatisation scheme. The agencies will advise the Polish State Treasury on comms in respect of its four-year Privatisation Acceleration Programme, which ends in 2011.

VMA Group, the communications recruitment specialist, has announced the hire of Chloe Prescott of The Royal Bank of Scotland Group as a consultant within its internal comms practice. During her six years at RBS she held a number of internal comms roles, including working on its integration of Dutch bank ABN Amro.

David Andrews Media, the Brighton-based financial PR consultancy, has been appointed by Citigroup to help launch its structured investment product range to the UK independent financial adviser market. Separately, the agency has picked up a brief to advise high net worth wealth manager Jonathan Fry & Co as it relaunches its London Family Office and investment advisory service.

FWD, the insurance PR specialist, is creating a specialist PR team to focus on asset management and personal finance. Victoria Sisson has been appointed PR director and joins from insurer QBE, while Alexandra Thompson has been appointed PR consultant and joins from the Chartered Insurance Institute.
