Barclays has hired environmental PR agency Thackray Forrester
Communications and corporate PR agency Kallaway to promote its
environmental regeneration project Barclays SiteSavers.
Several agencies were invited to pitch for the account, which is a new
one. Corporate community investment agency Just CCI has handled the
SiteSavers account single-handedly for the past year, and has been
retained to handle all administrative and design work for the project.
Thackray Forrester will be responsible for all national and
environmental media work.
Kallaway, which has promoted Barclays’ sponsorship programmes for the
past ten years, will lead the regional and specialist PR campaign.
Barclays SiteSavers provides funds to over 60 projects around the
country to transform derelict or underused land into new recreational
facilities.
The account is the first major win for environmental specialists
Thackray Forrester, whose clients include the National and Wildlife
Trusts and the World Wide Fund for Nature International, this year’s
winner of the PR Week Award for Best Broadcast Campaign (PR Week, 30
October).
Rachel Thackray, director of Thackray Forrester said: ’Barclays decided
to redefine the project, which is why they chose to hire two agencies to
jointly handle the promotion. Environmental issues are now being taken
much more seriously within the corporate world and companies and NGOs
are more aware of their impact on the environment. The account also
reflects the Government’s agenda on environmental issues.’
