Tony Blair’s press secretary, Alastair Campbell, is one of the
three highest paid government advisers, with an annual salary of pounds
91,014, Cabinet Office Minister Jack Cunningham said in a written answer
to the House of Commons this week. Cunningham also announced a new
three-band pay structure for the Government’s 67 special advisers, which
will be effective from next month. Special advisers will be paid in a
pounds 26,000 to pounds 76,056 range according to experience and
