Virgin Cinemas, Richard Branson’s venture into the multiplex market, has
signed up Consolidated Communications to assist with its nationwide
The contract is Consolidated’s third piece of Virgin business, having
advised The Virgin Group and Virgin Direct for two years.
The Soho-based integrated agency managed a two month project to launch
the first nine screen Virgin Cinema multiplex in Kent last month.
It has now been retained, without a formal pitch, to work with marketing
director Dave Facer on the launch of 18 multiplexes across the country
over the next 18 months.
Pre-launch activity will cover communications with property developers,
local communities and regional media.
Consolidated will also handle issues management and corporate PR and man
a permanent press office to handle all media enquiries.
Agency director Gail Melling commented on the win: ‘The cinema industry
is on the verge of a major growth explosion and Virgin Cinemas with be a
significant player in its future development.’
