The Berlin Convention Office (BCO) has appointed Hume Whitehead to handle its convention and incentive sales, marketing and PR activities in the UK.

The agency will work closely with the Berlin Convention Office to reinforce the city's profile as a leading conference destination and to secure additional meetings, conference and incentive business from the UK to Berlin.

Since 2001, the Berlin Convention Office has promoted Berlin both nationally and internationally as the destination for conventions, meetings and incentives of all kinds.

Hume Whitehead will highlight Berlin's attraction as an events destination - its range of venues, accommodation and transportation links played host to more than 50,000 events and four million participants in the first half of 2009.

Director and co-founder of Hume Whitehead, Sue Whitehead, said: 'Berlin's combination of superb infrastructure and value for money, along with its rich and vibrant culture, makes it an ideal choice for events organisers and we are very much looking forward to working with the Convention Bureau on initiatives to grow the UK market.'
