STOP PRESS: Walter takes on Lib Dem media relations

The Liberal Democrat party has appointed David Walter, a former BBC journalist, as its director of media communications. Walter, 50, started work last Monday and replaces Jane Bonham-Carter who moved into TV last year. He reports to the party’s chief whip Paul Tyler and campaigns chairman Nick Harvey, and oversees a six-strong team.
