NEWS: O’Neill engineers new council role

Brian O’Neill has been named as the Engineering Council’s new public affairs director.

Brian O’Neill has been named as the Engineering Council’s new public

affairs director.



O’Neill currently communications manager at GEC Alsthom, replaces

retiring public affairs director Ron Kirby, who has been with the

council since its 1983 inception.



O’Neill, currently based at GEC Alsthom’s Rugby corporate HQ, has been

with the energy and rail transport giant for more than three years. He

was previously group public affairs manager with construction company

Tilbury Douglas.



Outgoing director Kirby has overseen various high-profile campaigns at

the council, including the Young Engineers for Britain competition and

the Women Into Science and Engineering drive. He has also recently

overseen the launch of the body’s new corporate ID.
