PARIS: France’s second largest digital satellite channel,TPS, has

hired its first communications and marketing director.

Anne-Marie Verdin joined TPS this month from Disneyland Paris, where her

most recent post was communications and marketing director.

Verdin will report to TPS managing director Jacques Espinasse, and

oversee a seven-strong team. Her responsibilities cover media relations,

PR, marketing and advertising.

Verdin worked at Disneyland Paris for more than six years. She set up

the theme park’s advertising and media department in 1992 and was

promoted to marketing director four years later, before assuming

responsibility for communications last year.

Verdin previously worked for ad agency Ogilvy and Mather in London and

Paris.

TPS is a joint venture between France Telecom, private utility company

Suez Lyonnaise des Eaux and the owners of four of France’s main

terrestrial TV channels - M6, France 2, France 3 and TF1.

The firm launched its digital package in 1996, when it had just 30

staff.

Now with 550 employees and some 670,000 subscribers, TPS’s main

competitor in France’s digital TV market is Canal Plus.
