INTERNATIONAL: Comms director to aid President

WASHINGTON DC: White House communications director Ann Lewis has been named strategic communications counsellor to President Clinton.

WASHINGTON DC: White House communications director Ann Lewis has

been named strategic communications counsellor to President Clinton.



Lewis held the communications director post for almost two years. She

was previously deputy communications director. In her new role, Lewis

will focus on Clinton’s speeches to key constituencies and TV

appearances.



Loretta Ucelli has replaced Lewis at the White House. She will oversee

20 staff performing a strategic PR role.



Ucelli was previously associate administrator in charge of

communications, education and public affairs at the US Environmental

Protection Agency for six years.



- Aspiring Republican presidential candidate Elizabeth Dole has

appointed Ari Fleisher in her campaign to win the party’s nomination.

Fleisher was deputy communications director for former president George

Bush and vice-president Dan Quayle during the 1992 election.
