Chandler Chicco ousts Godman

Chandler Chicco has laid off its head of European operations Howard Godman.

Chandler Chicco has laid off its head of European operations Howard

Godman.

Describing the move as a ’corporate decision’, Gianfranco Chicco, the

company’s co-principal, said: ’We decided we needed a different type of

manager for our business.’

He added that managers in the agency worked ’hands-on’ and so someone

who could work within a flat management structure was needed.

Godman joined the company last year from the UK office of Manning,

Selvage and Lee, where he had been European healthcare director since

1995.

In his time at Chandler Chicco, he helped win business from names

including Bayer and Glaxo Wellcome.

Chandler Chicco poached Godman to set up its London office, which also

has a European remit.

While a replacement is being sought, consultants Sally Baxandall and

Henry Noyes will manage the London office.

Chandler Chicco was founded in the US in 1995 by former

Burson-Marsteller New York healthcare managers Robert Chandler and

Chicco.

In 1996, the company had a fee income of pounds 4.3 million with 40

staff.

Last year, Chandler Chicco had a fee income of pounds 5.7 million and

currently employs six staff in its London office and more than 55 in New

York. Clients include Bayer, Glaxo Wellcome and Pfizer.

Godman was unavailable for comment.
