Royal PR man and journalist Anthony Bailey has joined IBM as personal
press secretary to Lucio Stanca, chairman of IBM Europe, Middle East and
Africa, Bailey, 26, whose PR clients have included the head of the
exiled Libyan royal family Crown Prince Muhammad al-Rida al-Senoussi,
joined IBM in Paris last month in the new position of manager,
management communications.
Reporting to director of corporate comunications Joerg Winkelmann,
Bailey is responsible for all Stanca’s external communications including
arranging speaker platforms and writing speeches.
A former account director at Burson-Marsteller in London, Bailey
specialised in advising governments and heads of state, reporting to B-M
international chairman Bob Leaf. He also writes for Royalty magazine.
He left B-M in June 1995, working as a freelance journalist and press
secretary to various royals including Crown Prince Muhammad, the exiled
Emperor Amha Selassie I of Ethiopia - for whom he has worked since April
1991 - and King Simeon II Bulgaria.
After a brief spell at The Communication Group earlier this year Bailey
was headhunted for the IBM role. Hetold PR Week that he will continue
‘as honourary adviser’ to some of his royal clients and as the main
features editor for Royalty.
