The Association of Train Operating Companies has recruited Countrywide

Porter Novelli to handle media relations for its family and young

persons railcards.

ATOC, which works on behalf of the UK’s 25 passenger rail companies,

appointed CPN after reviewing tender documents from three agencies. It

used Lowe Bell Good Relations last year on a project basis, to support

its Family Railcard, but had not previously used an agency to promote

the Young Persons Railcard.

Beth Collins, ATOC’s national railcard product manager, said the

association chose CPN because of its creative ideas, good preparation

and interest.

The campaign will be led from CPN’s Banbury office by Roberta Fuke, a

senior consultant, under agency director Sally Ward. It will focus on

third party endorsements of the benefits of railcard-use over the

Christmas period, as well as stressing the general benefits of train

travel and of railcards.
