Manning Selvage and Lee has won a trio of lucrative pan-European
projects from electronics giant Philips.
MS&L has been selected by Philips Domestic Appliances and Personal Care
to promote the 1997 launch of two new products, a coffee maker and a
beauty product, and to support a Europe-wide event later this year.
MS&L director Fiona Cohen, who is leading the account, declined to
reveal the nature of the event, which will take place in eight
countries, or the values of the accounts. However, industry sources
estimate the combined fees of the projects is likely to top pounds
250,000, with MS&L’s London office taking the lion’s share.
The agency was selected for the three accounts without pitching,
following introductions via sister advertising agency DMB&B. The agency
picked up the beauty product account earlier this summer, the coffee
maker business in September and the event work this month. PR activity
for the two launches will form part of an integrated campaign, run in
tandem with DMB&B.
All three PR projects will be led from London, with varying degrees of
support from other offices within the MS&L network and from other
retained PR firms. The launch work will focus on media relations with
support for the event also including trade promotions and contact
withopinion formers.
Following the three wins, Fiona Cohen said: ‘We are hoping that the
quality of the work will result in more projects from Philips, who are
now approaching their marketing communications activity in a very
aggressive and creative way.’
Earlier this year, following an agency review, Philips Domestic
Appliances and Personal Care reappointed its long-term UK agency
Infoplan (PR Week, 8 March).
