Lexis Public Relations, the consumer and business-to-business agency,
has formed a technology division.
The 32-strong consultancy is also planning to venture into the medical
and youth PR markets in 1997.
Lexis has poached Maria Heavey from Shandwick Communications hi-tech arm
as an account director.
Heavey will initially work with two account directors on Nokia General
Communications and the satellite communications and multimedia firm
SSVC.
The estimated pounds 300,000-fee consumer and business to business
contract for AT&T will also come under the hi-tech umbrella.
Lexis has also hired ex-Marks and Spencer senior press officer Laura
Middleton as account director to work on the KFC business and plans to
recruit another five staff in the near future.
‘Our immediate plan is to think about specialist business units,’ said
Lexis joint MD Bill Jones. ‘At the moment there is potential business we
are not able to look at.’
