Planet 24, the independent production company behind Channel 4’s Big
Breakfast, is branching out into PR.
The Big Breakfast producers have a substantial share in a new agency -
Yemeyah Communications - which is based at its East London headquarters.
Planet 24 chiefs Bob Geldof, Charlie Parsons and Waheed Alli are all
directors of the new company.
They met Yemeyah managing director Wilma Ward when she worked as a
publicity manager for Planet 24’s youth show Hotel Babylon, hosted by
Dani Behr.
Ward has also worked as in-house PR manager for Planet Hollywood and a
freelance for the Fashion Cafe and IPC Football Awards.
She and agency publicist Annie Watson, a former fashion PR consultant
with Lynne Franks, are running the company with Wilma’s PA and PR
assistant Nicky Clarke.
Yemeyah, which will specialise in consumer PR, has already picked up
four accounts in six weeks of trading including publicity work for Behr.
Watson said Yemeyah will not automatically win PR work for Planet 24,
which uses Freud Communications, but added they may pitch for new
business.
