practice.

Founder Adele Biss took on a sizeable chunk of Ian Greer’s remaining

staff when she started her firm last November, but she has since been

careful to distance her company from any hint of impropriety.

Biss will ask all her staff, administrators included, to sign a

compliance form for the code every July. Retainers and commissions to

MPs, sitting peers or persons or companies acting for the firm are ruled

out, as are political donations.

If they want to report any wrong doings, staff must do so within the

company, to the chairman, managing director or an external consultant to

the firm. Staff face summary dismissal if any brown envelopes change

hands.

But Biss does assure that us hair shirts have been ruled out for the

time being, and staff will still be allowed biscuits with their tea.
