ITT Industries, the US hi-tech components manufacturer, has
appointed Thomas Glover to the newly-created post of public relations
Glover will have global responsibility for corporate PR, internal
communications, press and community relations.
Glover will oversee ITT’s corporate agency, Ketchum Public Relations,
which is retained across Asia, Europe, Latin America and North

He reports to Thomas Martin, vice-president and director of corporate
relations, and is based at the company’s headquarters in New York
’I have been seeking someone to focus more strictly on the PR function,’
said Martin. The appointment of Glover will allow Martin to concentrate
on his other responsibilities, which include government affairs,
advertising and marketing.
ITT manufactures pumps and valves, and parts for the automotive and
defence industries. The company’s stock is traded on the New York Stock
Exchange, and in the London, Frankfurt and Paris financial markets.
Glover joins from the North American arm of Ciba Speciality Chemicals,
where he was media relations and internal communications director.
Glover helped craft the company’s communications strategy, when Ciba was
created in 1996 by the separation of Ciba Geigy and Sandoz into two new
companies, Novartis and Ciba Speciality Chemicals.
Glover was a vice-president of public relations firm James A Fyock and
Associates, based in Winston-Salem, before joining Ciba in 1994.
Previously he worked as a broadcast journalist in the US.
