Luxury cruise line Seabourn has taken on its first UK PR agency as
part of a new focus on marketing to British holiday-makers.
Travel specialist Vickers PR will conduct media relations with upmarket
consumer magazines and the travel press. It will also be involved in
encouraging more word-of-mouth recommendations by Seabourn’s most loyal
UK customers.
Although the majority of the Norwegian-owned company’s business comes
from the US, UK consumers are among Seabourn’s most loyal clientele,
paying an average of pounds 490 per day (without air fare) for their
cruise.
Of the company’s top ten customers - couples who have spent the longest
on a Seabourn cruise - six of them are British.
’We think there are many people in Britain who can afford our holidays,
but have never cruised before,’ said Seabourn’s US-based vice-president,
corporate communications Ernie Beyl.
