Asda has handed its beers, wines and spirits PR account to Sundial
Communications.
Sundial already handles food PR for the supermarket chain, a contract
which it won 18 months ago from Lynne Franks PR (now Life PR).
The drinks account was previously handled by British American Services,
headed by Alan Crompton-Batt.
’We’ve been very happy with the way Alan and his team have been building
Asda as a major force in wine particularly with the wine writers,’ a
spokesman said.
’But we wanted to change the emphasis on to the tabloids and promote
wine for ordinary people,’ he said. Sundial was chosen because it has a
established consumer and tabloid press contacts for Asda on the food
account.
Asda retains AS Biss and Co for Parliamentary relations, Lowe Bell
Financial for City PR, Citigate Scotland for general consumer PR, Scope
Ketchum for local planning applications, and Lee and Knight for clothes
and non-food consumer goods, like toiletries.
