CENTRAL EUROPE: Credit card company Visa International is reviewing

its Central European PR account, currently held by

Burson-Marsteller.

Andrew Morrison, acting head of external communications for Central

Europe, Middle East and Africa (CEMEA) at Visa, said: ’We are obliged to

look at all service contracts every three years. But we have not decided

whether to hold a pitch yet.’

Morrison confirmed that Visa was asking other agencies for credentials

as part of the review. The account covers all Visa’s markets in Central

Europe including Poland, Hungary and the Czech Republic.

Visa International is currently reviewing its pan-European advertising

account which is handled by Saatchi and Saatchi.

Burson-Marsteller represents Visa in Asia but this relationship is not

being reviewed because the contract has been in place for less than

three years. Text 100’s work for Visa in South Africa will also

continue.

Burson-Marsteller supports Visa International’s CEMEA in-house team of

four which is headed by CEMEA vice-president of corporate communications

Caris Watson. The team was recently expanded with the appointment of

Amanda Sainsbury Vial as member communications analyst. She joined from

Deloitte and Touche.

Visa’s European Union region PR is handled separately by a 14-strong

department headed by EU vice-president of corporate communications Sue

Curtis. Curtis’s department retains 10 agencies across the region but

said that none were being actively reviewed.
