Royal Parks Enterprises, the commercial arm of the Royal Parks

Agency, has appointed Westminster Strategy as its first public affairs

agency on a project basis.

Westminster Strategy is believed to have been briefed to raise Royal

Parks Enterprises’ profile and to provide general strategic advice on

positioning Royal Parks Enterprises in relation to Government

policy.

Simon Petherick, chairman of Royal Parks Enterprises, said: ’Like any

company we size up opportunities.’ However, neither Petherick nor

Westminster Strategy would comment on the appointment.

Royal Parks Enterprises reports to the Royal Parks Agency, the executive

agency of the Department of Culture Media and Sport which manages eight

London parks including Kensington Gardens, in which the Diana, Princess

of Wales Memorial Committee is proposing to build a 27-acre garden of

remembrance.

Royal Parks Enterprises’ brief is to market the parks, thereby

generating funds for the Royal Parks Agency to top up its Government

grant.

Two weeks ago, Royal Parks Enterprises helped to manage a benefit

concert in Hyde Park for the Prince’s Trust charity and this September,

three concerts are due to be held on Horseguards Parade, on the edge of

St James’s Park, which will provide revenue for the Royal parks.
