Birmingham based PR agency David Clarke and Associates has snapped up

the account to launch the Planet on Sunday, a new Sunday newspaper which launches on 16 June.

David Clarke won the business after a three way pitch against two other

unnamed Midlands-based agencies.

Planet editor Austin Mitchelson declined to comment on fees and budgets

but said ‘it will come in at under pounds 500,000’. Advertising is not

being used in the launch.

David Clarke and Associates, which is part of the Edelman PR network,

will use Edelman offices throughout Wales and England for the pre-launch

activity.

Mitchelson said the contract with David Clarke and Associates will be

negotiable on a month-by-month basis after the launch.

‘There has been a huge level of interest from the media in general.

Because of its environmental bias it has generated a lot of interest

from those with leanings towards green issues,’ said Clarke.
