NEWS: Securicor hunts for communications director

Securicor Group, the security and telecommunications company, is looking for its first corporate communications director to help shake off its traditional security van image and prepare the ground for a possible FTSE-100 listing.

Securicor Group, the security and telecommunications company, is looking

for its first corporate communications director to help shake off its

traditional security van image and prepare the ground for a possible

FTSE-100 listing.

The group has hired London-based management headhunter Goddard Kay

Rogers and Associates to scour in-house PR departments and agencies for

a suitable candidate.

Securicor’s strategic development director Dudley Fielding confirmed

that the company was looking for aPR professional to build up a new

communications department and take responsibility for corporate PR and

internal communications among Securicor’s 45,000 employees.

‘We are looking for people with the relevant skills, wherever they come

from. We would not discount an agency person if they had the right

skills,’ said Fielding.

The company, which owns 40 per cent of mobile phone operator Cellnet, is

keen to position itself as a wide ranging telecommunications,

distribution, security and business services provider.

In March Securicor announced plans to simplify its share structure by

merging with Security Services, its 51 per cent-owned subsidiary.

The new company formed from the shake-up - to be named Securicor plc -

will have a market capitalisation of more than pounds 2 billion, making

it a certainty for the FTSE-100 after the next review of the index.
