BORDER LINES: NEW YORK: PR body sets financial minimum

Only consultancies with a net fee income of over dollars 1 million (pounds 600,000) and at least five full-time staff will be allowed to join the fledgling US trade association for PR agencies (PR Week, 14 November 1997). The 38 founding firms decided the membership criteria after a survey of 200 PR firms in the US. The largest member firms will pay a maximum of pounds 30,000 and the smallest a minimum of pounds 1,500 a year. ’The leadership of the US PR business has been long absent from helping guide the industry. This is a step in that direction,’ said Ketchum PR Worldwide chief executive officer David Drobis, who heads the association’s steering committee.
