The UK arm of Cendant Corporation, the world’s biggest consumer and business-to-business services firm, has hired Republic Communications to polish up its corporate image and promote its subsidiary, PHH Vehicle Management Services.

The UK arm of Cendant Corporation, the world’s biggest consumer and

business-to-business services firm, has hired Republic Communications

to polish up its corporate image and promote its subsidiary, PHH Vehicle

Management Services.

It is thought 12-month-old PR agency Republic will net around pounds

150,000 in fees from its work for the US-based group’s subsidiary.

Republic won the contract for PHH’s Insurer Services division last

September but has now taken on briefs for Retailers Services, which

makes corporate purchasing cards, and PHH’s two fleet management

companies Vehicle and Truck Management Services which manage around

275,000 company vehicles in the UK.

Agency director Deborah Lewis said that Republic’s task is to talk to

PHH’s existing customers, which include motor insurance firms, retailers

and operators of commercial vehicle fleets as well as to take PHH to a

broader audience in preparation for further Cendant acquisitions in the

UK.

Cendant was formed last December by the merger of CUC, which provides

membership services to shoppers and HFS, which owned the Avis brand.

Cedant made its first major buy last month with the acquisition of the

National Parking Corporation.

Republic’s clients include Kodak, Unichem and the Science Museum.
