Lewis PR names new account director.

Lewis PR has brought in Julie Walsh as an account director to work across tech brands IBM Cognos Software, Software AG and Getronics. Walsh joins the agency from Babel PR, where she was account director within the telecoms, digital media and technology sectors. Account manager Claire McCowan has also been appointed this week to support Avanade and Lexmark campaigns.

The CIPR event 'Demystifying the Digital World' is set to take place on 7 December at its PR Centre in Russell Square. It will feature speakers including Kindred's head of social media Paul Armstrong, Shiny Red MD Helen Nowicka and BT's principal business partner Richard Dennison. For details, go to, the UK-based penny auction site, has handed its consumer account to Speed Communications. Speed has been charged with promoting the site to online shoppers as a new and different entertainment retail site with lower price points. Account director Louise MacKintosh will lead the team.

Nixon McInnes, the online PR and social media shop, has hired Louise Greeves to head its online PR practice. Her role will encompass both online PR accounts for clients and in-house PR for the agency. Greeves joins the agency from Midnight Communications, where she was account director working across technology brands AOL, Fujifilm and Coremetrics.

Tourism New Zealand is running a six-figure online campaign to encourage UK backpackers to 'Go All the Way' to the country. The campaign will use a combination of social media and an online reality TV show in tandem with traditional PR methods to get the message out.
