Newcastle United, the Premier League football club, has recruited a
new PR agency to join its recently-appointed manager Kenny Dalglish.
Leeds-based Rawlings Financial PR has supplanted Citigate as Newcastle’s
financial PR consultancy and will advise the club on its forthcoming
stock market flotation.
The agency switch comes just four months after Citigate was hired to
help prepare the float. It picked up the business last September through
sister agency Westminster Communications, which worked for Cameron Hall
Developments - owned by Newcastle chairman and owner Sir John Hall.
Rawlings Financial is believed to have won the account through its
relationship with Mark Corbidge, who was appointed joint chief executive
of the club in October.
Kevin Keegan’s resignation as manager last week raised questions about
the likelihood of a Stock Market flotation. The proposed listing in
spring would value Newcastle United at around pounds 160 million and
raise funds for a new stadium.
