BORDER LINES: BEIJING - AT&T names its China agency
US telecom giant AT&T has appointed Euan Barty Associates to provide media and government relations support in China. The regulation of the Chinese market means that AT&T’s activity there has so far mainly been restricted to equipment supply. The agency’s brief includes lobbying the Beijing government on easing regulation of the telecom industry. Euan Barty worked for AT&T last year on a project organising a visit to China by chief executive Bob Allen. It was appointed without a competitive pitch.
