Pan-European telecommunications company Esprit Telecom has
appointed Millbank PR to handle its UK and European corporate PR
following a period of rapid expansion, particularly in Germany.
Millbank won the contract, worth around pounds 100,000, in a competitive
four-way pitch. The agency will help Esprit target small-to-medium
enterprises in the UK with a series of regional and national campaigns.
It will also provide support at the corporate level, devising
pan-European PR strategies which will be tailored to national
markets.
Reading-based Esprit Telecom began operating in Britain in 1992, and has
since expanded to 29 European cities and now employs 700 staff. The UK
is still one of the company’s primary markets, with offices in London,
Reading, Manchester, Glasgow, and Derby. Following deregulation of the
European telecommunications market, the company aims to be operating in
45 cities by the end of next year.
The decision to hire Millbank comes in the wake of a 100 per cent
increase in turnover in the past year, with last quarter profits
totalling pounds 21.7 million.
Esprit Telecom communications director Glenn Manoff said: ’We were in a
situation where we had separate operations in each country. Last year
saw a consolidation of our operations into one pan-European company, and
the challenge now is to provide a consistent message across Europe.’
