Atkinson Courage, the consultancy jointly managed by Princess Diana’s
former media adviser Jane Atkinson, has picked up its first bit of new
business since Atkinson quit as PR consultant to the would-be ‘queen of
people’s hearts’ last month.
The consultancy will handle a launch media campaign for the Paul Hamlyn
Learning Resource Centre at Thames Valley University.
The Centre, designed by Sir Richard Rogers and built on the University’s
Slough Campus, houses state-of-the-art multi-media resource-based
learning facilities.
Alistair Creamer, Dean of the London College of Music, who is co-
ordinating the centre’s launch at TVU said it was ‘an opportunity to
boost the university’s corporate image’. It will be formally opened by
Labour leader Tony Blair on 10 October.
The account win is the first for the consultancy since Atkinson’s much-
publicised split with Diana. She expects more to follow ‘Obviously
[working for Diana] has had a beneficial effect on the business,’ said
Atkinson. ‘The whole thing has given us many senior media contacts and
our new business programme is healthy.
‘A lot of people thought, quite rightly, that when I was working for the
Princess it was pretty much full time. I’ve now freed up a lot of my
time,’ she said.
