What is it good for?
The Bbar is a stylish oasis of quality and service nestled among the chain-ridden metropolis of Victoria.
Signature dishes?
The menu is inspired by famed Australian restaurateur, chef and food writer Bill Granger. I would recommend the succulent springbok burger with monkey gland sauce, or the peri-peri chicken in pitta. There is also a wide selection of sides, salads and sharing platters.
Who's the boss?
Manager Herman van den Berg ensures every visit is pristine: his staff are exceptional and the service is flawless.
Tips please
Ask for a table on the upper level, which is more intimate and spacious and lends itself better to business lunches than the front section. It is a good option for wine-loving clients because the sommelier offers 100-plus bins, so there is plenty of choice.
What's the damage?
For two courses from the 'day snack' menu, expect to pay between £12 and £15 per person. For the wine, we chose The Raintree Reserve White, Western Cape 2008 at £17.50 a bottle.
