NEWS: Dewe Rogerson takes over FD’s role at Amec

Amec, the construction firm which dropped Financial Dynamics as its City PR adviser in December in the wake of alleged breaches of the Take-over Code, has appointed Dewe Rogerson as its retained adviser.

Amec, the construction firm which dropped Financial Dynamics as its City

PR adviser in December in the wake of alleged breaches of the Take-over

Code, has appointed Dewe Rogerson as its retained adviser.

The hiring was made without a competitive pitch on the basis of DR’s

defence work for Amec during the hostile takeover attempt by Norwegian

group Kvaerner.

FD, which was Amec’s adviser for ten years, began defence work for the

pounds 360 million Kvaerner bid in November but was sacked after the

Takeover Panel issued a stern rebuke to the agency for supplying a 1996

profits forecast to a securities firm.

The company appointed Dewe Rogerson in its place to continue defence

work until the eventual failure of the Norwegian bid shortly before

Christmas.

Amec group press officer Nick Welsh said that DR would continue FD’s

work of financial press and investor relations and strategic advice. The

account will be headed by Dewe Rogerson’s executive chairman Tony

Carlisle.
