Lufthansa German Airlines has completed the re-organisation of its
corporate communications structure with the appointment of Dale Lawrence
as head of corporate communications for the UK and Northern/Eastern
Lawrence joins from his role as Shandwick’s international PR director in
Taiwan, where he led Shandwick’s drive for private sector business,
working with clients such as Mastercard and Chrysler.
His first task at Lufthansa will be to carry out a communications audit
in the region, which includes Scandinavia, Poland, the Czech Republic,
Slovakia, Russia and Kazakhstan.
The airline does not currently use agencies in Lawrence’s region,
although he is expecting to appoint an agency in Scandinavia in the near

corporate communications. Lawrence is one of six heads of corporate
communication overseeing regional PR in South America, the US, Central
Europe, Africa, the Middle East and Asia.
Lufthansa completed its privatisation process in October last year. This
has sparked the reorganisation of its corporate communications structure
and a global review of its PR agencies (PR Week, 21 November 1997).
Lufthansa plans to appoint agencies in a number of Western markets,
including France, Italy, and Spain.
