Ex-Labour MP Oonagh McDonald has joined public affairs firm Politics

International. McDonald represented Thurrock between 1976 and 1987,

during which time she was shadow spokesman for sectors including

defence, treasury and economic affairs.

McDonald, who is currently a governor of Birkbeck College and a non-

executive director of the Securities and Investments Board, has joined

PI on a part-time basis. She will focus on financial services and

transport issues.

Her recruitment, earlier this month, coincided with the hiring of Guy

Rainbird, a former Parliamentary aide to ex-Liberal Democrat leader Sir

David Steel, and of Ludgate Laud consultant James Boyd.

Andrew Dunlop, PI’s managing director, said the appointments followed

recent expansion at the agency.
