Hydro-Electric has named its press and public relations manager,
Carolyn McAdam, as its new head of corporate communications.
McAdam, who has been with the Perth-based utility since May 1994, will
head up a nine-strong team, across media relations, investor relations,
parliamentary affairs, internal communications and community relations.
She replaces Mike Keohane who leaves the company early next month to
become corporate relations director of Anglian Water. McAdam’s own job
is being advertised this week.
McAdam said the sector faced an exciting time, due to the looming
General Election, the possibility of a Scottish parliament and the
opening-up of the electricity market. She said these changes had wide
communication implications, particularly in relation to public affairs.
‘My first priority will be to consolidate the team. We already have a
highly skilled team which is consistently rated very highly in industry
opinion polls. I will be endeavouring to maintain those high standards,’
McAdam joined Hydro-Electric after four years with Barkers Scotland,
including two years as public relations director. Before that, she
spent a decade with BBC Scotland on freelance television and radio
assignments ranging from researching to presenting.
