Shandwick Consultants has appointed five additional board

directors.

The new directors have all been promoted from within, bringing the total

number on its board to 20. Shandwick Consultants is the largest UK

company within the Shandwick International group, and employs 90

people.

The promotions follow the departure of the agency’s chief executive

Chris Matthews and three board directors in February. Matthews has yet

to be replaced.

The new directors are: Julian Bosdet, Matthew Hooper, Jon McLeod, Ben

Padovan and Marcus Smith. They have been with the agency for over a year

and were previously associate directors, the rank immediately below

board director.

The promotions have led to criticisms from some insiders that the board

is over-inflated for the size of the agency.

Shandwick UK managing director Colin Trusler countered the criticism,

saying that the expansion was a result of a growth in business.

The agency’s turnover is 25 per cent higher for the first half this year

than it was last year. This is due to new business from clients

including the Meat and Livestock Commission, Bovis Homes, Mersey Docks

and Harbour Board, United News and Media and the Government of

Tunisia.

’We have a relationship with our clients where they expect and get

contact with the senior people in our business,’ said Trusler.
